WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University softball team recorded their first sweep of Le Moyne College since 2008, winning 2-1 and 5-0 on Friday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Marois Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE – Assumption University 2, Le Moyne College 1
The first inning was a defensive one, as Hounds made good plays in the field while Laura Bennett struck out two Greyhounds batters. Le Moyne got things started in the top of the second inning, as
Jordan Dwyer made an excellent catch in centerfield, but a run tagged up to give the Dolphins a 2-1 lead. The Greyhounds responded right away when
Alyssa Johnson bunted, which scored
Raigan Gregoire, who was running hard from third base. Assumption would take the lead in the fourth as Johnson was involved again, tripling and scoring
Corin Mahan. The Greyhounds used superb pitching and fielding to ensure a one-run lead is all they needed, as they went on to win Game One of the doubleheader 2-1.
Anna Tassone pitched a complete game and picked up the win. She allowed six hits, one run, one walk, and had one strikeout.
GAME TWO – Assumption University 5, Le Moyne College 0
Game two was all Greyhounds, as Assumption controlled the game at the plate and in the field.
Corin Mahan continued a strong day by sacrifice flying out to the outfield, which allowed
Lauren Geremia to score the first run. Later in the inning, Kali Sirocco had a bunt that scored Dwyer. Mahan was back again in the third inning and singled in Geremia for a second time. In the bottom of the fifth,
Mackenzie Bruggeman hit a solo shot over the center field fence to give the Greyhounds a 4-0 lead and keep them in control. Gerermia would score again later in the inning on another fielder's choice. The Dolphins did not have an answer at the plate, and Assumption improved to 14-12 with a 5-0 win in Game Two.
Kaelin Waldron pitched a complete game shutout, while allowing six hits and striking out three.
