WORCESTER, Mass. – After taking game one 4-0, the Assumption University softball team could not complete the sweep of the College of Saint Rose, as their comeback came up short, 3-2 in Northeast-10 Conference action Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE – Assumption University 4, The College of Saint Rose 0
The Greyhounds got on the board early, as
Jordan Dwyer singled to second base, and
Lauren Geremia scored to give the Greyhounds a 1-0 win.
Corin Mahan kept things going by singling into the outfield, which scored Dwyer. The pitching and defense for Assumption were solid throughout and gave the Greyhounds a lot of room at the plate to add to the damage.
Summer Sheerin continued the offense by grounding out, which scored
Kaitlyn Cahill, and the Hounds went up 3-0. Later in the sixth inning,
Raigan Gregoire stole a base and managed to make it home from the throwing error, and the four runs were all that Assumption needed. The Greyhounds went on to win 4-0 in game one.
Anna Tassone pitched a complete game and only allowed three hits on the day.
GAME TWO – The College of Saint Rose 3, Assumption University 2
Saint Rose was able to get started early in Game Two, as they scored on a fielding error and then on a single when Anna Clearly singled into the outfield and Ellen Fuda scored, giving the Golden Knights a 2-0 advantage in the first inning.
Summer Sheerin continued a strong day at the plate by singling into the outfield, moving the runners, and
Mackenzie Bruggeman reached home to get the Greyhounds on the board. It didn't take long for Saint Rose to respond a second time, as Alexandre Deeter got a hit up the middle to score Ciana Phillips, and Saint Rose got the lead back to two. With the game on the line, the Hounds almost managed a comeback in the bottom of the seventh.
Corin Mahan singled up the middle to score Abby Larson and keep the Hounds in it. Bruggeman almost managed to load the bases with two outs but struck out, and the Golden Knights took game two of the doubleheader in Worcester 3-2.
Kaelin Waldron started on the mound for the Hounds. She pitched 4.2 innings for Assumption, allowing six hits and two earned runs. She struck out four batters.
