WORCESTER, Mass. – In a battle of two top-25 teams, the No. 16 Assumption University women's lacrosse team fell to No. 21 Saint Anselm College 17-8 in Northeast-10 Conference action Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Greyhounds were on fire to start the contest, going up by three goals in almost no time, as they held the Hawks scoreless for the first 10:56 minutes of action.

Molly Weiand, and
Katelynn Johnston were on the scoresheet to start things off for Assumption. After that, though, the Hawks offense started to piece together, scoring five straight and playing solid defense to hold the Greyhounds to limited chances. At halftime, each team tacked on one more, as the score was 6-4 in favor of the visitors.
The second half was all Saint Anselm, as they outscored Assumption 11-4. That included a stretch at the 5:52 minute mark in the third quarter to the 8:56 mark in the fourth, where Saint Anselm scored eight straight to put the game away.
Katelynn Johnston netted twice, while Isabella Edwards and
Jenna Joseph added second-half goals, but it wasn't enough to hold off the surging Hawks, as Saint Anselm prevailed 17-8.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Skylar Troyan and Healey Torres combined to record ten for Assumption.
- The Hawks outshot the host 33-28, while the Greyhounds won the ground ball battle 17-16.
