HOW IT HAPPENED
After forcing a quick three-n-out, the Greyhounds marched down the field and punched in Berrell Neal's six-yard touchdown to go up 7-0.

In the second quarter, the Golden Bears got their offense in sync, as they responded with a touchdown run. After two short possessions, Assumption used two big plays to get back on top. Jake Cady connected with Quinn Sieger on passes of 45, 9, and 18 yards, which included an 18-yard strike to Sieger in the back corner of the endzone, making it 14-7 Greyhounds. After a quick touchdown strike by Kutztown, the score would remain 14-14 until the final minute of the first half. Owen Fitzgerald picked off the pass, initially tipped by Dion Kuinlan, and returned 24 yards to the Kutztown 26-yard line. Two plays later, Cady connected with Kyle Sonnie to make it 21-14 Greyhounds with 21 seconds showing on the game clock.

After their opening drive stalled at the beginning of the third quarter, a booming punt from Gabriel Bertalazzo pinned the Golden Bears within their 20-yard line. Kutztown got two quick first downs, but Jael Feliz picked off a pass and returned it to the 24-yard line. Assumption's offense went three-n-out, but Nicholas Chodak connected from 37 yards out, making it 24-14 Greyhounds. The Golden Bears got within a score in the latter portion of the third quarter, as Kurtis Ravenel Jr. scored on a 74-yard touchdown reception.

After the hosts forced a punt to begin the fourth, Cady orchestrated a 12-play 46-yard scoring drive, which took 6:47 and was capped off by Quinn Sieger's second touchdown snag. The Assumption defense would hold Kutztown from coming back and would secure a 31-20 season opener win.
