HOW IT HAPPENED
The half opened up in back-and-forth play, starting with a Kani Glover deep ball and Daouda Dembele getting started down low. However, when the Falcons had an 11-7 lead, Bentley exploded on a 13-0 run to lead 25-7, ultimately taking control of the contest with about ten minutes remaining in the half. Assumption slowly made their way back, with Njavan Stewart knocking down a three at 7:20 to get within 12, but Bentley answered right back with another 9-0 run to lead 36-12 with four minutes to go. Turnovers and missed shots gave Bentley a chance to extend their advantage. With minutes to go in the half, the Hounds strung together their best offense yet, closing on a 13-2 run to set up for a competitive second half. At the break, Bentley led 38-25.
Bentley and Assumption were back and forth to open the second half, with the Falcons extending the lead to 46-30 with 17:28 remaining in the second half. The Greyhounds couldn't close the gap on the Falcons, who kept the double-digit lead for the next few minutes. A quick Assumption run with nine minutes to go got the Hounds within eight, but Bentley responded well, with Aaron Latham knocking down a jumper. Despite Kasey Draped leading the way with 19, the lead was too much for the visitors to overcome, with the Falcons pulling off an 80-64 win against the Greyhounds.
