WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University women's ice hockey team comes up short, as the Greyhounds drop a 4-2 decision to Saint Anselm College in New England Women's Hockey Alliance action Saturday evening at the Worcester Ice Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Saint Anselm was the first team to get on the scoreboard, as Brooklyn Schneiderhan scored at the 7:34 marker of the first period. Assumption tied the game just past the halfway mark of the opening frame, as
Emma Gurnell's wrister from the slot beat the Hawks' netminder to the top glove side of the cage. With three minutes remaining in the first, Gracee Donovan regained the lead for Saint Anselm as she redirected Ella Ridge's shot from the point.
At the tail end of the second period, Maddy McCaffery scored a powerplay to push the visiting Hawks' advantage to 3-1 heading into the final 20 minutes.
Ava McGaffigan cut the Greyhounds' deficit to just one goal with her strike early into the third period. Despite a 5-on-3 powerplay advantage for over a minute, Assumption could not tie the game. Audrey Jackson put a capper on the game, as she scored with 1:37 showing on the scoreboard.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Jadyn Weiser logged 27 saves in the crease for the Greyhounds.
- Both sides fired 31 shots on goal, while Saint Anselm won 41-of-69 faceoffs.
- Both sides scored on the powerplay, as the Greyhounds went 1-for-5, while the Hawks went 1-for-2.
- Saint Anselm now leads the all-time series 3-0-1.
