WORCESTER, Mass. - The Assumption University women's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie against Southern Connecticut State in Northeast-10 Conference action on Wednesday at Normand R. Marois '57 Field. The only way to crack the scoreboard in this one was to string together a highlight goal of pure perfection.

Assumption opened the scoring in the first half whenÂ
Haleigh Ward dazzled the crowd with a goal off a lofted pass fromÂ
Amaia Astiasaran. Ward flicked the ball softly over the Southern Connecticut goalkeeper for the lead. The Greyhounds had the pressure on at the start of the half, but momentum shifted as the Owls began to outshoot Assumption in the second half.Â
Frida Larsson tended the net well, turning nine shots in the match. Southern Connecticut State equalized in the final five minutes of regulation as the team's leading scorer, Sydney Myers, scored with a well-placed header, assisted by Alexis Rosado, the reigning NE10 Offensive Player of the Week. In the final minutes, both teams had opportunities but settled for a 1-1 draw.
