RINDGE, N.H.—The Assumption University women's soccer team was eliminated from the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament, as the Greyhounds fell to Franklin Pierce University 2-0 in the quarterfinal round, finishing the season with an overall record of 7-5-6.
THE BASICS:
Score: No. 2 Franklin Pierce University 2, No. 7 Assumption University 0
Records: Greyhounds (7-5-6, 1-3-4 NE10), Ravens (14-3-1, 7-2-1 NE10)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Greyhounds staved off the Ravens for 33 minutes until Claudia Peirce buried the opening goal. At halftime, it was 1-0; Assumption had two shots, while FPU had seven. Constant pressure from the Ravens offense led to another goal, this time assisted by Peirce and scored by Jenni Huttunen ('60). The score stayed locked, ending the Greyhounds' season in the quarterfinal.
BY THE NUMBERS:
- Frida Larsson made six saves in goal for Assumption.
- Haley Brown led the Hounds with three shots.
- Haleigh Ward was Assumption's leading goal scorer in 2024, finding the back of the net nine times in her senior season.
- Ward also led the team in assists (6) and points (24). She scored 14 points throughout her first three seasons.
- Delaney Farinha tied her career high with five goals in her senior season.
- Assumption improved their team record from 3-4-9 in 2023 to 7-5-6 this year.
