WORCESTER, Mass.— The Assumption University men's basketball team defeated Franklin Pierce University 96-85 at Laska Gymnasium on Wednesday night to improve to 3-0 in the Northeast-10 conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Assumption went on a late run in the opening half to lead 42-33 after a
Kyle Hicks three-pointer with 2:45 to play. The Greyhounds went into halftime controlling a four-point lead, 44-40. The Hounds began the second half with a flurry of three baskets in the paint to seize early momentum and a double-digit lead 50-40. There was no turning back; Assumption kept the Ravens at bay comfortably the rest of the way.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Assumption is 3-0 in NE10 action for the first time since the 2012-13 campaign.
- Kyle Hicks led the Greyhounds with 19 points while adding four assists and four assists.
- Baril Mawo posted his second-straight double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
- Zee McCown recorded nine assists.
- The Blue and White made 40 field goals on the evening, which tied a program record, which was last accomplished at Saint Michael's on December 4, 2002.
- The Hounds controlled the paint, outscoring the Ravens 68-44 in the key while outrebounding the opposition 36-33.
- Assumption recorded 18 steals on the night, which is the most since the 2011-12 season, while also being tied for the 11th most in Division II this season.
- Franklin Pierce still leads in the all-time series 29-15
