BURLINGTON, VT. –
Teagan Vaughan scored the overtime winner as the Assumption University women's ice hockey team defeated Saint Michael's 5-4 in New England Women's Hockey Alliance action Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The game would have to wait until the final five minutes of the opening period to see someone to score.
Jenna Chaplain put Assumption on the board first as
Caroline Lilley assisted on the game's first goal. Saint Michael's tied up the game just over a minute later as Keeley Callander found the back of the net.
Kiersten Browning opened the second period as she found the back of the net 90 seconds into the frame. The Purple Knights tied the game in the final minute of the middle period as Angelina Ruiz beat the Assumption netminder. The game would head into the third period tied, but both teams would strike twice to send the game to overtime.
Teagan Vaughan recorded the game-winner just over the two-minute mark, scoring off a rebound from an
Ava McGaffigan shot.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Carissa Mudrak recorded 28 saves in the win.
- Assumption outshot Saint Michael's 33-32, while the hosts won 32-of-60 faceoffs.
- Neither scored on the powerplay, as both went 0-1.
- Assumption leads the all-time series 4-0-1.
