ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Powered by an 18-point third quarter by
Molly Stokes, the No. 20/14 Nationally Ranked Assumption University women's basketball team defeated Roberts Wesleyan University 68-59 in the Red Hawks Tip-off Tournament Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption had early shooting woes, as they were 6-of-14 in the first quarter, while Roberts Wesleyan was 8-of-13 and took a 19-14 lead into the intermission. The Red Hawks carried their hot shooting into the second quarter, pushing their lead to 12 points (36-24).
Kaijhe Hall hit a layup in the final minute, and the hosts maintained a ten-point lead into halftime.
Molly Stokes opened up the second half with eight quick points as they trimmed the lead to two (36-34) three minutes into the frame. Halfway through the third, Stokes would continue her hot stretch out of the break and would give Assumption their first lead since the score was 4-3 in the first. In the third quarter, Stokes scored 18 of the 23 points for the Hounds and sent Assumption up 53-46 in the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, the Greyhounds continued to build their lead to as large as 15 points (61-46), with 7:25 in regulation. However, the Red Hawks slowly chipped away at the deficit, but they could not overcome Assumption and held on to win 68-59.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Molly Stokes led all scorers with 31 points, while Teagan Curran (12) and Kaijhe Hall (10) recorded double-digit points.
- Marina Callahan joined Hall with the only two players with 10+ rebounds, while Antonia Panayides paced the Hounds with six assists.
- The Greyhounds outrebounded the Red Hawks 40-29.
- Assumption now leads the all-time series 2-0
