THE BASICS
Score: Bentley University 101, Assumption University 98 – 2OT
Records: Greyhounds (13-10, 9-8 NE10), Falcons (16-8, 11-6 NE10)

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons emerged from the gate on fire, storming out into the lead. Only Njavan Stewart could get it going early for the Hounds, as he had the first four points for the home side. Bentley could not miss, especially Cash McClure, who opened up with ten points on a perfect 4-4 from the field. The Falcons connected on all cylinders at a lead of 18-4. The Hounds slowly got into the game, as Kasey Draped and Kani Glover scored to cut the deficit down to seven at 22-15 with 10:36 to go. The Falcons worked their lead close to double digits again, but a Daouda Dembele basket and a Glover three worked it back down to four. Assumption got better as the half went on, playing within four with four minutes to go, led by Glover. Back-to-back buckets between Stewart and Glover gave the Hounds their first lead on the day at 37-36 right before the break. Joe Carroll was able to convert on ½ free throws with one second remaining, tying the game at halftime. The Greyhounds and Falcons were in a standoff 37-37 after twenty minutes.

The second half was Assumption's to start, as they broke into the half up 50-41 through Glover, who continued to have a strong day. The Hounds began to break the game open as Draper and Alex Carlisle hit back-to-back buckets to extend the lead to 11. With only 7:30 remaining in the contest, Assumption held a 16-point lead. However, it was now time for the Falcons to make a run of their own. From that moment, Bentley ripped off a 17-3 run, coming with two of Assumption through free throws from Zach Laput. Assumption got it back up six. However, the Falcons replied again through Kellan Bochenek, who used clutch free-throw shooting to tie the game at 83 apiece. Despite a look from Draper, he could not convert, and the game would go into overtime.

Only a minor offense occurred in the first overtime period, as each team only scored four points. Draper tied things up with 29 seconds left at 87 apiece, and Latham had a look at the buzzer to win it but missed. In the second overtime, the Falcons jumped out to a 93-87 lead before the Hounds came back to make it close. Dembele continued his strong day with a layup at 1:54 to get within three, followed by Stewart nailing a clutch triple with 56 seconds to go. With the ball down two, Glover made a move at the rim but was denied, putting the Falcons at the line after Assumption fouled. Laput made his first free throw, and the Hounds had a chance to force a triple OT, but an effort from Kyle Gaskins came up short. In the end, the Falcons 101-98 defeated the Hounds.
