HOOKSETT, N.H. – The Assumption University men's ice hockey team capped off the regular season as they picked up a 3-1 win at Southern New Hampshire University in Northeast-10 Conference action Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption was the first team to score, as
Jake Lavoie roofed a near post shot over the shoulder of the Penmen netminder at 2:00 of the opening frame. The Greyhounds would carry the 1-0 lead into the intermission, mainly due to the play of
Thomas McLarnon between the pipes for the Greyhounds. The senior netminder made 17 saves in the opening 20 minutes.
Camron Roberts gave Assumption a 2-0 lead early in the second period, as his shot from the point beat the SNHU goaltender on a 5-on-3. Halfway through the middle period, the Penmen capitalized on a two-man advantage of their own, as a shot by Matt Amante beat McLarnon, cutting the Greyhounds' lead in half.
The Greyhounds regained a two-goal advantage early in the third period.
Jonathan Surrette pounced on the rebound from the
Nick Demio shot from the point and beat the Penmen netminder on the one-on-one opportunity.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Thomas McLarnon recorded 31 saves in the crease for the Greyhounds.
- Assumption outshot Southern New Hampshire 37-32 while also having a slight edge in the faceoff circle (47 of 92).
- Both teams struck on the man advantage, as the Greyhounds were 1-for-5, while the Penmen were 1-for-4.
- The all-time series tied at 40-40-5.
