HOW IT HAPPENED
Molloy raced out to a commanding early lead, as they plated four runs in the first and eight runs in the second before scoring four more runs in the third to go up 16-0. The Greyhounds would not roll over that early, as they struck for four runs, thanks to a solo home run from
Enger Paulino and a three-run shot from
Cody Smith. Assumption added three more runs in the fifth inning as
Jamison Howland blasted a three-run home run to left field, making it 16-7.
The Lions continued to add runs, plating six in the sixth and four more in the eighth to go up 26-7. The Greyhounds would not go away, as they scored five runs in the bottom of the ninth, as
Matthew Holbrook hit a grand slam before
Josh Jenkins scored on a fielding error, but the lead was too great to overcome, making it a 26-12 final score.
