HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption started as the stronger side, going up 15-4 following a Daouda Dembele layup, which put him up to six points. This forced an early timeout out of Saint Anselm, who struggled with the offense early. Njavan Stewart was putting together a solid first half as well, getting fouled on a three-pointer and converting all three free throws to double the output of the Hawks, leading 26-13 with 9:46 left in the first half. The visitors flirted with small runs to return to the game but could not get many stops on the defensive end. At multiple points in the late stages of the opening twenty, the Hounds held a 16-point lead. With one second left on the clock, Tayeshawn Cunningham-Pemberton scored off a Kasey Draper miss to put an exclamation point on the first half. Into the break, Assumption led 48-34.

The Hawks opened the second half strongly, especially Tyler Arbuckle. Arbuckle ended the day with 34 points, five shy of his career-high 39 earlier this season. Arbuckle carried the Hawks' offense to open the half, knocking down a long stretch of jumpers in a row, and the Hawks were only down by five after four minutes. However, after that small run from the visitors, Assumption got back in a groove and maintained a steady lead. Through Alex Carlisle, the Hounds could regain the advantage up to a 14-point lead at 65-51, and for most of the second half, it would waver at this lead. With minutes left, Draper and Stewart hit big threes to ice it. Led by 41 combined between Stewart and Draper, Assumption picked up another impressive conference win, this time against Saint Anselm 90-78.
