PREVIEW: Men's Ice Hockey to meet up with SNHU in the NE10 Championship on Saturday

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University men's ice hockey team will head to the Northeast-10 Championship as the top seed. The Greyhounds will take on Southern New Hampshire University in the NE10 Finals on Saturday, March 2, at 3:00 pm at the Worcester Ice Center.
 
NE10 TOURNAMENT CENTRAL
 
Assumption went 3-1 on the year against Southern New Hampshire. The two teams first met in Worcester on the January 12-13 weekend. The Greyhounds took both games, winning 5-1 in each contest. The Penmen exacted their revenge on Friday, February 16th, when SNHU won 2-1. The following day, the Greyhounds soured the Penmen's Senior Day with a 3-1 final to close the regular season.

THE SEASON TO THIS POINT
Record: 24-7-0 (16-4-0 NE10), 11-2-0 at home, 11-5-0 on the road, 2-0-0 at neutral
  • Assumption has the top-ranked offense (3.94) and the top-ranked defense (2.79) in the Northeast-10.
  • The Greyhounds are 11-0 at home when scoring 3+ goals, while 0-2 while scoring two goals or less.
  • Assumption cleaned up the NE10 All-Conference awards, as Ronny Paragallo (Player of the Year), John Woernle (Co-Defensive Player of the Year), Jonathan Surrette (Rookie of the Year), and head coach Michael Looney (Lance "Duke" Brady Coach of the Year) all came away with the major awards.
  • The Greyhounds have won the NE10 Championship twice (2021-22 and 2016-17).
  • Assumption has the fourth highest-scoring team in the history of the Northeast-10 Conference (since 2003-04) with 122 goals.

  • Southern New Hampshire has the fifth-ranked offense (2.66) and the second-best defense (2.87) in the conference.
  • The Penmen had just one All-NE10 recipient, as netminder Collin Berke was selected to the All-Rookie Team.
  • Southern New Hampshire has won the NE10 Championship three times, last done in the 2018-19 season.
