HOW IT HAPPENED
West Chester started right away, scoring through Madeline Edinger within nine seconds of the start. Assumption responded through
Annie Ettenhofer for her first goal of the season. The rest of the quarter would see the Rams score two while the Hounds score one, with
Olivia Catanzarite burying her shot for the home side. After one, it was 3-2 in favor of the Rams.
The Rams added two goals within forty seconds of each other in the second quarter to attempt to separate from the Hounds, leading 5-2 at 13:08 remaining in the half. Each team would score two the rest of the way, with
Jenna Joseph and Catanzarite adding another while Megan O'Donnell and Edinger scored for the visitors. At the break, the Rams led 7-4.
The visitors dominated the majority of the third quarter, outscoring the Hounds 6-1. Jess Harrison added two goals, while Julia Littlewood, Eliza Enriquez, O'Donnell, and Edinger rounded out the scoring.
Katelynn Johnston made sure Assumption didn't leave the third empty-handed, firing one home with 19 seconds left in the quarter. With 15 minutes remaining, West Chester led Assumption 13-5.
The fourth quarter had the least scoring, with the Rams adding three more to their total. Littlewood added two, while O'Donnell added one more to her tally as the West Chester Rams defeated the Assumption Greyhounds 16-5.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Skylar Troyan and Healey Torres combined to record ten saves.
- Olivia Catanzarite led the Greyhounds with two goals while tying Jenna Joseph with three points (one goal, two assists).
- West Chester outshot Assumption 41-20.
- This is the first meeting between the two teams; West Chester now leads the all-time series 1-0.
