WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 21 Assumption University women's lacrosse team could not keep up with the University of New Haven, as the Chargers won 19-16 in the Northeast-10 Conference on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption started fast, as
Olivia Catanzarite and
Katelynn Johnston scored back-to-back goals to go up 2-0 early. The Chargers responded with a pair of their own, but Katelynn struck again at 7:52 to regain a lead for the Greyhounds. New Haven closed the quarter, outscoring the visitors 4-1, with the lone goal coming from
Caitlyn Reilly. UNH led 6-4 after 15 minutes.
The hosts opened up the second with two quick tallies to go up 8-4, but Assumption logged five of the following six goals to tie the game at 9-9, with
Mallory Bartlett,
Katelynn Johnston,
Jenna Joseph, and
Kyle Johnston recording goals for the Greyhounds. New Haven had the final say in the opening 30 minutes, as Caitlin Seleny scored with 2:10 remaining to put the hosts up 10-9 heading into the break.
In the third quarter, the two teams traded goals, but the Chargers scored back-to-back goals twice to extend their lead to four (16-12) heading into the fourth. The Greyhounds outscored the hosts 4-3 in the final 15 minutes, but they only got within two goals, as New Haven came away with a 19-16 decision.
