GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – In the 2023 Northeast-10 Conference Championship rematch, the Assumption University softball dropped a pair of games to Adelphi University Sunday afternoon.

Game One Score: Adelphi University 5, Assumption University 4 – 9 Innings
Game Two Score: Adelphi University 16, Assumption University 2 – 5 Innings

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE – Adelphi University 5, Assumption University 4 – 9 Innings
Adelphi jumped out to an early lead, plated three runs in the bottom of the second, and added another run in the fifth.
Lauren Geremia recorded the Greyhounds' first hit of the afternoon in the top of the sixth as she singled to the pitcher.
Assumption got on the board in the top of the seventh and plated four runs.
Jordan Dwyer began the scoring with a two-RBI double to right center.
Abigail Larson drove in
Bianca Vincequere with an RBI single before Dwyer scored on a
Kaitlyn Cahill sacrifice fly to center.
The game would head to the ninth inning, where Adelphi would walk off with a sacrifice fly to center field.
GAME TWO – Adelphi University 16, Assumption University 2 – 5 Innings
For the second straight game, the Panthers started fast, scoring one run in the first, four in the second, and nine in the third.
The Greyhounds got on the board in the top of the fourth, with
Emma Bloom drawing a bases-loaded walk before Larson had a single to left, scoring
Grace Heim on the play. Adelphi responded with two runs in the bottom half of the frame, pushing the host's advantage to 16-2.
