WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University softball team walked off in game one but fell in game two against Saint Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference action Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE – Assumption University 4, Saint Michael's College 3
Saint Michael's was the first team to score, as they plated two runs in the top of the third inning before adding another run in the top of the fourth to go up 3-0 midway through the game. Assumption got on the board in the bottom of the fourth, as
Lauren Geremia scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of
Corin Mahan.
The Greyhounds cut the deficit to one run as
Jaiden Tonucci scored on a
Kaitlyn Cahill single to left field. Assumption needed to rally in the bottom of the seventh, as they plated two runs in the frame with two outs.
Abigail Larson scored following a single by Geremia, but the throw from the second baseman sailed on the Purple Knight, tying the game.
Grace Heim walked it off for the Hounds as she flared a single to left field, scoring Geremia on the play, winning it for the hosts.
Lexi Thompson earned her first collegiate win. She pitched 3.2 innings, allowing no hits and striking out two.
GAME TWO – Saint Michael's College 3, Assumption University 1
Assumption got on the board first, as
Jordan Dwyer stole third in the bottom of the second, but the throw sailed into left field, allowing Dwyer to take home. Saint Michael's tied the game in the top of the fourth inning as Angelica Johns scored on a fielder's choice. The Purple Knights took the lead later in the frame, as Meghan Connor scored on a bases-loaded walk.
The game remained 2-1 in favor of the visitors until the top of the seventh when Connors doubled home Johns with a shot to left center field. Despite multiple scoring chances, the Greyhounds were unable to get another run.
Paige Cote tossed 4.2 innings in relief, where she struck out six and allowed just one earned run.
