WORCESTER, Mass. – The No. 21 Assumption University women's lacrosse team used a huge second half to pick up a 12-7 Northeast-10 Conference win over Southern Connecticut State University Saturday afternoon at Brian Kelly '83 Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption started fast, as
Katelynn Johnston and
Jenna Joseph scored back-to-back goals, putting the Greyhounds up 2-0. Southern Connecticut answered with three straight tallies to go ahead 3-2.
Olivia Catanzarite tied the game with her 37
th goal of the season to send the game to the second quarter. The contest would head to halftime at 4-4 after both sides scored one goal aside, with
Katelynn Johnston recording an up-goal for the Hounds.
Coming out of the break, Assumption scored three straight goals to go up 7-4, with Johnston,
Molly Weiand, and
Grace Chicko finding the back of the net. After the Owls quickly answered, Chicko capped off the third quarter with the Greyhounds leading 8-5.
The fourth quarter was all Assumption, as
Katelynn Johnston scored three goals, Isabella Edwards had the other, and SCSU scored two goals, making the final score 12-7.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Skylar Troyan recorded nine saves in the crease for the Greyhounds.
- Katelynn Johnston had a game-high five goals, while Jenna Joseph had one goal and five assists for the Greyhounds.
- Assumption outshot Southern Connecticut 29-23, while forcing 13 turnovers to just six for the Owls.
- Assumption leads the all-time series 19-3.
