WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University softball team picked a 7-0 win in game one, but fell in game two 4-2, in their Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader against the University of New Haven on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE – Assumption University 7, University of New Haven 0
Assumption was the first team to score, as
Lauren Geremia scored
Raigan Gregoire with a bunt double.
Abigail Larson scored on a suicide squeeze play by
Alyssa Johnson, making it 2-0 Greyhounds. The Greyhounds pushed their lead to 4-0 following a two-run second inning as
Jordan Dwyer and
Emma Bloom crossed the plate.
The Greyhounds extended their lead to 5-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning as
Grace Heim drove in Johnson with a sacrifice fly to left field. Assumption tacked on two more runs in the sixth inning, extending their lead to 7-0.
Kaelin Waldron pitched 6.0 innings, allowing just one hit and striking out two to earn her first win of the year.
GAME TWO – University of New Haven 4, Assumption University 2
New Haven started fast, putting up four runs in the top of the first inning to go up early. Assumption got on the board in the bottom of the second, as Gregoire scored on a suicide squeeze by
Jaiden Tonucci. The Greyhounds got within two with
Lauren Geremia's sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Larson.
Assumption would get runners in scoring position, but they could not tie the game, and would fall 4-2.
