MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Assumption University baseball team lost a pair of games to Saint Anselm College on Saturday afternoon, the final day of the regular season in Northeast-10 Conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One Score: Saint Anselm College 10, Assumption University 6
Assumption got on the board early, plated three runs in the top of the first inning.
Owen Podolec tagged up and scored on a foul out to first base before
Lorenzo Lombardo crossed the plate on a groundout and a
Christopher Manzo RBI double to left, plating
Cody Smith. After Saint Anselm tied the game with a three-run home run in the bottom of the first, Lombardo regained the lead for the Greyhounds with a two-run shot in the top of the second.
Saint Anselm plated runs in the fourth, sixth, and the seventh to go up 10-5. But Lombardo would strike again with a solo home run in the top of the ninth to cut the deficit to 10-6.
Game Two Score: Saint Anselm College 10, Assumption University 9
The Greyhounds, once again stuck first, plated three runs in the top of the second, with
Jamison Howland and
Patrick Kostiw recording RBI in the frame. The Hawks responded with four of their own in the bottom half of the frame to take a 4-3 lead.
Matthew Holbrook regained the lead for the Hounds in the top of the third, hitting a two-run home run.
After
Jack Barry scampered home on a wild pitch in the top of the fifth, Saint Anselm plated five runs in the bottom half of the frame. Howland picked up another RBI in the top of the seventh with a single up the middle before Barry tied the game at 9-9 with a two-run double to right field. The Hawks would walk it off with a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the ninth.
