WORCESTER, Mass – The Assumption University women's soccer team opened their 2024 season with a 3-0 victory at home against Daemen University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first half was held scoreless but with no shortage of chances.
Frida Larsson kept busy in goal for the Greyhounds, making six saves in the first half.
In the second half, in the 50th minute,
Haleigh Ward found the first goal of the season, assisted by
Ashley Wenzel. A rebound just feet from the goal line took a high hop tailor-made for a header. Ward found the mark. The insurance goal that followed five minutes later was a top-class strike from
Haley Brown, who placed a shot from distance perfectly into the top corner of the net.
The Greyhounds kept the pressure on, outshooting the Wildcats 20-7 in just the second half. Becca Schultz had a remarkable performance for Daemen in order to keep it close. The third and final goal came from Katherine Laboissenniere in the 71st minute. In the perfect spot for another rebound, she cleanly volleyed the shot to put the match out of reach for the Wildcats.
