MANCHESTER, N.H.—The Assumption University men's basketball team nearly led wire-to-wire as the Greyhounds rolled to a 97-74 Northeast-10 Conference road win over Saint Anselm College Thursday evening, extending their winning streak to ten straight.
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
In the early going, the two teams traded baskets, but with Assumption leading 21-19, the Greyhounds went on a 33-13 run that saw
Njavan Stewart lead the charge for the Hounds with nine points. During the 11:14 run, Assumption saw seven players find the bottom of the twine while their defense held Saint Anselm to 4-of-15 shooting and five turnovers. The Greyhounds would carry a 54-32 lead into the halftime break.
In the second half, the Greyhounds continued to extend their lead, as they saw it grow to as large as 34 points (89-55), as
Daouda Dembele had a putback layup with 8:38 left in regulation. From then on, Saint Anselm closed the gap on a 19-8 run, but the Hounds would come away with a 97-74 win in Manchester and improve to 5-0 in league play.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Njavan Stewart led all scorers with 18 points, with a career-high six three-pointers.
- The Greyhounds used balanced scoring. Five players recorded double-digit points, and 11 of 14 Assumption players scored.
- Assumption outrebounded Saint Anselm 51-41, with Daouda Dembele and Tayeshawn Cunningham-Pemberton pulling down nine boards apiece.
- The Greyhounds extended their winning streak to ten games, the longest since the 2001-02 season when they won 14 straight.
- This was Assumption's first win at Saint Anselm since Jan. 26, 2010, when the Greyhounds returned with a 75-63 victory.
- Saint Anselm leads the all-time series 40-35.
