Men's Soccer drops 2-1 decision at Adelphi

GARDEN CITY, N.Y.– The Assumption University men's soccer dropped their sixth straight contest, as they fell to Adelphi University 2-1 in Northeast 10 Conference action, Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the first half, neither team found the back of the net, but Adelphi controlled the play, outshooting Assumption 10-3 in the opening 45 minutes. The Panthers were the first team to score, as Ryan Holt found the back of the net in the 53rd minute before Gonzalo Gil scored a minute later, giving the hosts a 2-0 lead. Assumption got on the board in the 80th minute, as Ryan Linhares scored in the low right corner of the cage. The Greyhounds pushed late, but they could not find the equalizer. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Cathal Carney recorded eight saves in the goal for the Hounds. 
  • Adelphi outshot Assumption 19-7, while having eight corners to just four for the Hounds. 
  • The Panthers were called offsides three times.
