WORCESTER, Mass.– The Assumption University men's soccer team struck first, but it was the No. 22 Franklin Pierce University Ravens who struck for three unanswered goals to take a 3-1 Northeast 10 Conference final score, Wednesday evening at Normand R. Marois '57 Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption was the first team to get on the board, as
Sekou Kouyate connected with
Henrik Maehlum, who scored on a one-on-one with the Franklin Pierce netminder, at 29:22. The Ravens responded 24 seconds later when Julen Martin found the back of the net. FPU controlled the action in the first half, as they outshot the hosts 17-5, but it was
Cathal Carney who came up clutch with 11 stops.
Franklin Pierce struck twice late in the second half, as it was Guillermo Avendao who netted the go-ahead goal in the 73
rd minute, before Julen Martin scored an insurance goal in the 84
th minute.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Cathal Carney recorded a career-high 12 saves for the Greyhounds.
- Franklin Pierce outshot Assumption 26-9, while having ten corners to just one for the Hounds.
