FITCHBURG, Mass.—The Assumption University men's ice hockey team made it four-straight wins, as
Jonathan Surrette led the way with a 5-3 win at Fitchburg State University on Tuesday evening at the Wallace Civic Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Fitchburg was the first team to get on the board, as Nolan Sargent scored on a drop pass from Devin Niles at the top of the left circle, as his wrist shot beat the Assumption netminder. The Greyhounds responded at the 11:27 marker, as
Jonathan Surrette found the back of the net off a rebounded shot by
Jake DiNapoli. The Falcons regained the lead nine seconds later with another drop shot.
Daniel Lemanski tied the game once again for the visitors, as he scored on a four-on-four, with
Leo Piandes taking credit for the primary assist.
The second period would be a quiet one, but the Hounds would grab their first lead of the contest with 2:19 remaining in the frame, as
Shane McElhaney scored a power play goal, with
Patrick McKiernan and Surrette picking up the helpers on the score.
The game would remain 3-2 in favor of the visitors until 16:44 of the third, when
Thomas McGaffigan scored an insurance goal for Assumption. After Fitchburg got within one, Surrette iced the game with an empty-netter with 39 seconds left in regulation.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Callum Welch logged 36 saves in the win.
- Fitchburg State outshot Assumption 39-35, while also winning 41-of-73 faceoffs.
- The Greyhounds were the only team to score on the power play, going 1-for-6, while the Falcons went 0-for-7.
- Surrette has now picked up a point in all five games this season, where he has recorded five goals and four assists.
- Fitchburg still leads the all-time series 40-21-1.
