WORCESTER, Mass. —The Assumption University women's basketball team fell in their home opener to American International College, as they fell 71-52 in Northeast 10 Conference action, Tuesday evening at Andrew Laska Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
American International had the slight edge in the first few minutes, as they outscored Assumption 14-6 in the opening 5:36.
Emma Dahl hit a three-pointer before
Teagan Kamm knocked down a free throw to draw within two (14-12) with two minutes left in the opening frame. The two teams would trade the next few points, but AIC would lead 20-18 after the first quarter.
The Yellow Jackets opened the second by scoring 10 of the first 12 points to go up by 10 (30-20), but the Hounds would whittle the deficit down to five (37-32) before the end of the half. Assumption continued to play from behind, as they hit six of eight free throws at the beginning of the third quarter to get within three (41-38). American International would play aggressive defense, pull away by the end of the fourth quarter, and head into the fourth quarter up 55-42. In the final frame, the AIC defense would hold Assumption to just 3-of-11 shooting from the field, and they would pull away for a 71-52 win.
BY THE NUMBERS:
- Teagan Curran led the Greyhounds with 15 points, while Teagan Kamm had 11.
- American International College led the battle on the boards (41-33), while outscoring the Greyhounds 32-20 inside the paint.
- Assumption leads the all-time series 41-23.
