FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. —The No. 21 nationally ranked Assumption University men's basketball team dropped their second-straight game to a top-5 nationally ranked team, as they fell to No. 5 Nova Southeastern University 125-68 in non-conference action, Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The reigning national champions started fast, as they raced out to a 4-0 start before
Baril Mawo hit a corner three-pointer to get Assumption on the board. Nova Southeastern continued to use their full-court press and fast offense, growing its lead to 14-3 just under three minutes into the game. The Sharks continued to see their lead grow, as it grew to 37-20 at the halfway mark of the first half, but a 24-13 run to close out the first half gave NSU a 61-33 lead entering the break.
Coming out of the second half,
Lenny Tangishaka and
Zee McCown trimmed the Nova lead down to 23 points (62-39), but Nova shot 26-of-29 (89.7) from the field in the second half to pull away for a 125-68 final score.
BY THE NUMBERS:
- Lenny Tangishaka led Assumption with 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting, while adding eight rebounds to his stat line.
- The Sharks shot 70.6 percent from the field, while shooting 78.6 percent (18-of-25) from long range.
- Nova outrebounded Assumption 45-26, while outscoring the opposition 72-30 in the paint.
- Nova Southeastern now leads all-time series, 2-0.
