CALDWELL, N.J. —The No. 21 nationally ranked Assumption University men's basketball team dropped their third-straight game, as the Greyhounds fell to Caldwell University 94-92 in non-conference action, Sunday afternoon. 

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Assumption started strong, going up 8-4 in less than two minutes into the contest. Caldwell battled back and would take their first lead of the game at 11:28, as Isaiah Philbert hit a three-pointer to go up 19-18. The Greyhounds responded with a 19-6 run, led by Daouda Dembele and Baril Mawo, to take their largest lead of the first half at 37-25 (12). The Cougars answered with a 14-4 run of their own to get back within two (41-39), but the Hounds finished the first half strong, with an 11-5 stretch, giving the Blue and White a 52-44 lead at the intermission. 

Coming out of the second half, Dembele and Mawo hit back-to-back buckets to put Assumption up 13 (57-44). Caldwell responded with a quick 9-2 run to get within six (59-53), four minutes into the half. The Greyhounds answered the Cougars' run with a 9-2 run of their own, with Jacob Gibbons pouring in four of the points to go back up by 13 (68-55). The Hounds' lead would hover in the double-digits until the halfway mark of the second half, as the hosts would go on a quick 7-0 run to get within five (75-70). After Dembele stretched the Assumption lead to nine points (79-70) with a 4-0 run with 8:24 left, Caldwell went on a 19-8 run to take their first lead (89-87) of the contest since 11:28 of the first half, following a three-pointer by Isaiah Philbert. The Greyhounds were unable to finish off the game and would come up just short, as the Cougars would hold on for a 94-92 win. 

BY THE NUMBERS:

• Daouda Dembele had a career-high 25 points, while adding six rebounds, four steals, two assists, and two blocks. 
• Lenny Tangishaka (12), Noah Payne (12), Tayeshawn Cunningham-Pemberton (11), and Baril Mawo all recorded double-digit points. 
• Caldwell outrebounded Assumption 44-36, while also having a 19-9 advantage in second-chance points. 
• Assumption now leads all-time series, 5-4.
