COLCHESTER, VT. —The Assumption University men's basketball team dropped their fourth-straight contest, as they fell to Saint Michael's College 81-70 in Northeast 10 Conference action, Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Daouda Dembele and
Tayeshawn Cunningham-Pemberton got Assumption to start fast, as they raced out to a 6-0 run to begin the game. Saint Michael's responded with a 16-4 run to go up 16-10, before rattling off a 14-9 run to extend their lead to 11 (30-19) with 4:37 to go in the first half. The Greyhounds closed the gap with a quick 6-0 run to cut the deficit down to four (30-26). The two teams would trade buckets down the stretch, but it would be the hosts who pushed their advantage to nine (41-32) points entering halftime.
Assumption started fast to begin the second half, as
Zee McCown and Cunningham-Pemberton scored two quick baskets, trimming the margin to five points in the opening minute. The Purple Knights responded with a 10-4 run, pushing their lead to 11 points (51-40) entering the first media timeout. The Greyhounds would not go away, as they would go on a 16-6 run, led by five points from
Hudson Geremia, to get within one (57-56) with 8:27 to go in the second half. Saint Michael's would go on a 24-14 run to close out the game to pull away for an 81-70 final score.
BY THE NUMBERS:
- Zee McCown led four Greyhounds in double digits with 12 points, while Tayeshawn Cunningham-Pemberton (11), Jacob Gibbons (11), and Noah Payne (10) all poured in 10+ points.
- Saint Michael's outrebounded Assumption 50-34.
- The Greyhounds only forced 13 turnovers, which is the lowest since March 25, 2025, where Nova Southeastern had 11 in the Elite Eight.
- Assumption leads the all-time series 56-38.
