FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Assumption University women's ice hockey team rallied with two goals in the third period to force a 2-2 tie at Sacred Heart University in New England Women's Hockey Alliance action, Friday afternoon.
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Sacred Heart was the first team to score, as Grayson Limke found the back of the net at 4:45 of the first period. The game would remain 1-0 in favor of the hosts until 14:32 of the second period, as Maddie Smith scored off the rebounded shot by Hailey Jussila.
The Assumption offense would come alive in the third period, as
Justina Valentini scored at 5:50 of the period with
Kayla McGaffigan and Annebel Ziskin recording assists on the play to get the Greyhounds within one (2-1).
Isabella DiReda tied the game 38 seconds later as
Heather Ajakie and
Rachel Agerter picked up the apples on the play. The game would remain tied for the rest of regulation and overtime, but it would be Sacred Heart that would come out on top in the shootout.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Jadyn Weiser logged 33 saves in the loss
- Assumption outshot Sacred Heart 37-35, while also winning 27-of-51 faceoffs.
- Neither side scored on the power play, as the Greyhounds were 0-for-1 and the Pioneers were scoreless on two tries.
- Sacred Heart now leads the all-time series 7-3-1
