FAIRFIELD, Conn.— The No. 6 seeded Assumption University women's ice hockey team could not find the back of the net, as the Greyhounds were shutout by the No. 3 seeded Sacred Heart University Pioneers, 1-0, in the opening game of the New England Women's Hockey Alliance Quarterfinals, Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Sacred Heart got on the scoreboard 68 seconds into the first period, as Brianna Morden scored on the power play. From then on, Assumption was the more aggressive team, as they outshot the hosts 11-7 for the remainder of the opening frame.
The Greyhounds continued to fire away, as they took 44 shots over the final 40 minutes, while the Pioneers took 28, with Assumption netminder
Jadyn Weiser stopping all 14 shots on goal that she faced. Despite the extra pressure on the hosts' goalie, Sacred Heart would hold on for a 1-0 win and a 1-0 series lead.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Jadyn Weiser recorded 21 saves in the crease for the Greyhounds.
- Assumption outshot Sacred Heart 37-22, while the Pioneers won 35-of-58 faceoffs.
- The hosts were the only team to score on the power play, as they went 1-for-2, while the Hounds were scoreless on four attempts.
- Sacred Heart leads the all-time series 6-3.
