Women's Ice Hockey blanks Saint Anselm, 2-0

WORCESTER, Mass.— The Assumption University women's team saw Heather Ajakie record her first multi-goal game, while Jadyn Weiser picked up her third career shutout, as the Greyhounds blanked Saint Anselm College 2-0 in New England Women's Hockey Alliance action Friday evening.

THE BASICS:
Score: Assumption University 2, Saint Anselm College 0
Records: Greyhounds (7-19-3, 7-14-2 NEWHA), Hawks (9-15-4, 9-10-4 NEWHA)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Assumption came out of the gates on the attack, as they outshot Saint Anselm 24-10 in the opening period. The Greyhounds would have to wait until the latter portion of the middle frame, where Ava McGaffigan found Heather Ajakie beating the Hawks defense and scoring the game's first goal with 2:12 remaining on the game clock.

The Greyhounds added an insurance goal halfway through the third period, as Sheridan Terrazzano won a board battle before sending the puck up ice for Ajakie who potted a short-handed goal. Saint Anselm pulled their netminder with 1:26 left in regulation, but could not find the back of the net, despite firing four shots.
