STAC takes two from Softball

SPARKILL, NY – The Assumption University softball team drops a pair at St. Thomas Aquinas College in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Spartan Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One Score: St. Thomas Aquinas 4, Assumption University 3 – 8 Innings
Nadia Zach drove in the first run of the day in the top of the fifth inning as the freshman laced a double to left center, driving in Bianca Vincequere on the play. The Greyhounds doubled their lead in the sixth, as Alyssa Johnson scored on a double steal. 
 
St. Thomas Aquinas got on the board in the bottom of the sixth before tying the game in the bottom of the seventh, sending the game into extras. Assumption regained the lead in the top of the eighth, as Kaitlyn Cahill scored on a fielder's choice. The Spartans would strike for two runs in the bottom of the frame to walk it off for the hosts. 

Game Two Score: St. Thomas Aquinas 6, Assumption University 3
STAC started fast in the second game of the day, as they plated four runs in the bottom of the second. Assumption responded with three runs in the top of the fourth, as Emma Bloom and Kaylee Lacomb drove in RBI, with Lacomb hitting the first home run of the spring for the Hounds. 
 
St. Thomas Aquinas responded in the bottom half of the frame, as Eliana Raposo hit a two-run home run to center field, pushing the hosts' advantage to 6-3.
