MANCHESTER, NH – The Assumption University men's lacrosse team is off to their best start in program history, as the Greyhounds defeated Southern New Hampshire University 9-7 in Northeast-10 Conference action Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption was the first team to score, as
Aidan Rodgers opened the scoring at 11:43. After Southern New Hampshire tied the game, Ben MchHugh regained the lead for the Greyhounds at 7:53 with his 19
th goal of the year.
Brady McNulty pushed the lead to 3-1 before the Penmen cut the deficit to one (3-2) before the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Greyhounds would see goals come from McNulty,
Ryan Bogar, and
Brian Shortt to go up 6-2. In the opening 30 minutes, the Greyhounds would outshoot the Penmen 25-10 and won 8-of-10 of the faceoffs.
The scoring slowed down in the third quarter, as both teams scored twice, with Bogar and
Cameron Theriault scoring for Assumption and Sean Dwyer netting a pair. In the fourth quarter, Southern New Hampshire closed the deficit two, but Assumption would hold on for a 9-7 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Shane Corcoran recorded nine saves to pick up his sixth win of the year.
- Assumption outshot Southern New Hampshire 46-28 while winning the ground ball battle 27-17.
- The Greyhounds won 14-of-20 faceoffs
- This is the best start in program history, surpassing the 2011 squad who started 5-2.
- Southern New Hampshire still leads the all-time series 18-9.
