WORCESTER, Mass. – Despite a great pitching performance by
Evan Remington and
Alexander Meesig, the Assumption University baseball team fell to Southern New Hampshire University, 2-0 in Northeast-10 Conference action Saturday afternoon at H.L. Rocheleau Field.
THE BASICS
Score: Southern New Hampshire University 2, Assumption University 0
Records: Greyhounds (2-21, 1-8 NE10) | Penmen (14-7, 4-1 NE10)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Both starting pitchers were cruising for the first few innings of the game, but it would be Southern New Hampshire who would get on the scoreboard first. The Penmen would score one run on a double to right field before scoring later on in the frame with an error by the Assumption left fielder.
The Greyhounds would threaten in the eighth as
Jack Barry made it to third base following a single, error, and passed ball, but he could not score. Assumption would threaten again in the ninth, as a miss-played fly ball to the SNHU centerfielder put
James McDermott on third base before
Max Lefrancois put a charge in the ball before flying out to right field to end the game.
Remington and Meesig combined for 9.0 innings on the bump, where they allowed six hits, one earned run, and 14 strikeouts.
