RINDGE, N.H. – The Assumption University women's lacrosse team finished the regular season with a season-high 17 goals in the 17-8 Northeast-10 Conference win over Franklin Pierce University on Wednesday afternoon.

THE BASICS
Score: Assumption University 17, Franklin Pierce University 8
Records: Greyhounds (6-8, 5-5 NE10), Ravens (3-11, 1-9 NE10)

HOW IT HAPPENED
An early free-position goal by Assumption's Molly Weiand put the Greyhounds in front 1-0, but the Ravens struck twice in response, taking a 2-1 lead. Katelynn Johnston scored her first goal, a tone-setter, to even the score 2-2 with 8:54 to go in the first quarter. FPU jumped ahead 3-2 just minutes later. With six minutes to play in the quarter, Morgan Bolduc found the back of the net to retie the game. Mallory Bartlett buried the go-ahead goal for the Hounds, and Weiand tacked on her second of the game with four seconds remaining in the first quarter.

The Blue and White showed no signs of slowing down, beginning the second quarter with three more unanswered goals. Katelynn Johnston completed her first hat trick with 9:44 left in the opening half. At halftime, after a couple of back-and-forth blows, the score was 11-6 Assumption.

Six unanswered goals in the third quarter extended the Greyhounds' lead to 17-6. Comfortably ahead, the focus shifted to lockdown defense. Franklin Pierce only scored two goals in the second half. The final horn sounded after a quiet fourth quarter, locking the Greyhounds in as a sixth-seeded team for the upcoming NE10 Championship, beginning this weekend.
