COLCHESTER, VT.— The Assumption University men's soccer team dropped their first Northeast 10 Conference game of the season 5-1 to Saint Michael's College on Saturday afternoon.
THE BASICS:
Score: Saint Michael's College 5, Assumption University 1
Records: Greyhounds (2-2-0, 0-1-0 NE10) | Purple Knights (4-1-1, 1-0-0 NE10)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
It all went down in the first half, beginning with Purple Knight goals 15 and 19 minutes into the action. Trailing, Assumption found a golden opportunity on a penalty kick. Senior captain
Axel Gerremo stepped up and delivered his second goal of the season to bring the Hounds within one at the 30-minute mark. Saint Michael's struck back almost immediately. At 32:45, Ronnie Riby-Williams scored the insurance goal to make it 3-1 Purple Knights. They tacked on two more before the intermission. The Purple Knights' game plan shifted to a conservative one, and they kept Greyhound chances to a minimum in the second half, holding on for the 5-1 victory.
