WORCESTER, Mass.– The Assumption University field hockey team erupted for seven goals, as the Greyhounds soared past Franklin Pierce University 7-1 in Northeast 10 Conference action, Tuesday evening at Brian Kelly '83 Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption's
Mieke Rentsch got the scoring started for the Greyhounds only 43 seconds into the game. The scoring stayed Hound-heavy with four goals by
Julia Carbone, Rentsch,
Daisy Stone, and
Khianna Jackson in the second quarter alone.
Franklin Pierce started to fight back with a goal from Franklin Pierce's Cece Keller, assisted by Nina Depew, the first Raven goal of the game late in the third quarter, but the Blue and White's defense stiffened up, not allowing another goal from the Ravens.
Assumption shut down Franklin Pierce for their home blue out game, with two more goals by
Elle Murray and
Daisy Stone, resulting in a final score of 7-1.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Paige Gillette recorded eight saves in the cage for the Greyhounds.
- Assumption outshot Franklin Pierce 43-10, while also having a 9-6 advantage in penalty corners.
- Nine different Hounds recorded points in the contest, led by Daisy Stone, who racked up five.
- After not scoring in the first five games of the season, freshman Mieke Rentsch has now recorded four goals and four assists over her last three games.
- Assumption now leads the all-time series, 32-9, including 19-straight.
