GOFFSTOWN, N.H.– The Assumption University men's soccer team fell to Saint Anselm College 1-0 in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday afternoon at Melucci Field on the campus of the Hawks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Neither team had many scoring chances in the first half, but it was Saint Anselm who nearly took the lead in the 33
rd minute, as
Cathal Carney made a finger-tip save off a Brian Jones header. After Assumption outshot the opposition 6-1 in the first half, the Hawks went on top in the 52
nd minute, as Parker Bienvenue-Cernuda found Luke Delia on a two-on-one scoring play. Less than a minute later, Carney made a key chest save off a Delia shot from inside the box.
In the 67
th minute, Assumption nearly found the equalizer, as
Lucas Albuquerque curled in a corner kick, but the goal was called back for the Hawks' netminder being run into. The Greyhounds had another scoring chance with 4:30 remaining, as Carney found a streaking
Evan Conceicao, whose shot was blocked at the last second, forcing a corner. Two minutes later, the Hounds had two free position attempts from right outside the box, but the Saint Anselm's netminder, David Hood, kept the ball out of the net.
