WORCESTER, Mass.— The Assumption University men's basketball team pulled away in the second half to capture an 83-69 Northeast 10 Conference win over Franklin Pierce University, Saturday afternoon inside Andrew Laska Gymnasium.
THE BASICS:

Records: Greyhounds (11-7, 6-3 NE10) | Ravens (5-14, 1-8 NE10)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
In the early portion of the contest, neither team could establish much on offense, as it was 11-11 just under nine minutes in. Assumption had the first scoring run of the day, as they went on a quick 7-0 run to go up 17-11, just past the midway mark of the first half. The two teams would continue to exchange blows, but it would be the Greyhounds maintaining a 30-27 lead at the intermission.
Coming out of halftime, the Hounds went on an 18-6 run, shooting 8-of-11 from the field and forcing Franklin Pierce to 2-of-7 from the floor and three turnovers, to go up 48-33 five minutes in. After three quick buckets by the Ravens,
Daouda Dembele fueled an 11-3 stretch, which gave the hosts a 19-point advantage (61-42) with 9:06 left in regulation. FPU would attempt a comeback, but Assumption answered every basket with one of their own, and would pull away for an 83-69 final score.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Tayeshawn Cunningham-Pemberton had a team-high 21 points, while Dauoda Dembele (15), Zee McCown (12), and Noah Payne (10) all recorded double-digits.
- Demeble picked up his first double-double of the year, with 15 points and 12 rebounds, while adding three steals.
- The Greyhounds' defense forced 28 Ravens turnovers, as they racked up 20 steals and had seven blocks.
- After shooting just 38.7 percent from the field in the first half, Assumption shot 58.8 percent in the second half.
- Assumption still leads the all-time series 33-18
