WORCESTER, Mass.— The Assumption University men's basketball team fell to Saint Michael's College 79-77 via a buzzer-beater, in Northeast 10 Conference action, Saturday afternoon inside Andrew Laska Gymnasium. 

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
Assumption started strong, as they began the game on an 8-2 run. Saint Michael's responded with a 6-0 run to tie the game at 8-8. The two teams traded baskets for most of the first half, but with the Greyhounds leading 22-21, the hosts went on a 17-11 run to take a 37-32 lead. The Purple Knights got a floating jumper by Quintin Floyd in the final minute to cut the Assumption lead to three points at the half. 
 
Tayeshawn Cunningham-Pemberton was hot coming out of the half, as he fueled an 8-2 run to begin the second, extending the Assumption lead to nine (45-36). The Greyhounds lead would grow to as large as 12 points (59-47), which was capped off by a Baril Mawo three-pointer with 10:18 left in regulation. The Purple Knights responded over the next three minutes, as they turned a 12-point deficit down to just two points (61-59), following a 14-5 run. Saint Michael's would take their first lead of the game since 2-0, with 3:58 to go, as Floyd hit a step-back three-pointer, giving the visitors a 68-65 edge. The Knights would push their late advantage to six points (77-71) with 32 seconds left in regulation, but Assumption would not go quietly as Lenny Tangishaka knocked down three free throws, before Baril Mawo drained a set-back three-pointer to tie the game at 77-77 with 9.6 seconds showing on the clock. Saint Michael's would go the length of the court, and Floyd would take a step back three-pointer, which would come up short, but Abdur-Rahman De Leon scored the put-back as time expired, giving the visitors the 79-77 win. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Baril Mawo had a game-high 27 points on 9-of-10 shooting from the field, 5-for-5 from long range, and 4-for-4 from the charity stripe. He added nine rebounds, two assists, and two steals to his stat line. 
• Tayeshawn Cunningham-Pemberton (16) and Daouda Dembele (11) both logged double-digit points, while Zee McCown had 11 assists. 
• Assumption outrebounded Saint Michael's 37-29, while outscoring the opposition 44-30 in the paint. 
• The Greyhounds still lead the all-time series 56-38
