Indoor Track & Field has strong showing on Day One of NE10 Championships

BOSTON, Mass. – The Assumption University indoor track and field team sit in second place on the men's side, while the women are in fourth, following the first day of the 2026 Northeast 10 Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Track at New Balance, on Thursday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the running preliminaries, Miguel Torres (8.44) and Torrence Borletto-McCray (8.49) both qualified for the men's 60m hurdles finals, while Katrina Sullivan (8.91) finished fourth in the prelims of the women's section. Jalen Smith-Phillip (6.97) advanced to the finals of the men's 60m with a sixth-place finish, while DJ Chaudhry (48.63) and Gabe Lamar (49.43) both qualified for the men's 400m. 
 
In the men's 800m, Parker Thompson (1:57.28) and Will Farley (1;57.98) will be advancing to Friday's finale, while Michaella Namiotka (2:20.70) will represent the women. Smith-Phillip (21.82) and Chaudhry (22.04) both qualified in the men's 200m final, with Hannah Keeney (25.85) reaching the finals on the women's side. 
 
Ian Pereira took home the first running medal for the Greyhounds, as the junior won the 5000m (16:56.59), while Tatiana Chaplin (21:59.67) took home silver in the women's side. In the 4000 medley relay, the men's grouping of Eli Lipson, Nolan Querzoli, Jackson Gannon, and Aaron Pelletier took fifth, with a time of 11:08.01. On the women's side, Namiotka, Bridget Haley, Mara Keane, and Rose Connolly combined for a second-place finish (12:58.69). 
 
In the field events, Justin Griffiths-Lam finished fifth in the pole vault (3.50m), while Ava Berand finished fifth on the women's side (2.95m). The Greyhounds finished 2-3-6 in the men's weight throw, with Craig Gnatek (16.80m) earning silver, and Jayden Wilkins (16.59m) taking home bronze, while Will Pessina (15.33m) finished sixth. Ryan Araujo wrapped up the scoring for Assumption on day one with a fourth-place finish in the men's long jump (6.95m).
