WATERBURY, Conn. – The Assumption University men's lacrosse team improved to 3-1 on the year, as the Greyhounds used a strong first half to pull away from Post University, winning 18-10 in non-conference action, Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption had a strong start, as they opened the game on a 7-0 run, with
Patrik McGrath being the only player to have more than one tally. After Post got on the board,
Ben McHugh and Nolan Jonson went on a 3-0 run to give the Greyhounds a 10-1 lead after 15 minutes of action. The scoring slowed down in the second period, as only
Boomer Staunton scored for the Hounds and Cameron Maunders scored for the Eagles.
McGrath opened up the second half with his third goal of the contest, but Post would not go away quietly as they outscored Assumption 4-3 in the frame, with McHugh and Shortt netting the two other goals for the Blue and White. The Greyhounds pulled away at the start of the fourth quarter, as Staunton, McGrath, Johnson, and
Cole Rodgers scored to go up 18-6 with 6:57 left in regulation. The Eagles would net the final four goals of the contest, making the final score 18-10.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Shane Corcoran and Nate Burns combined for 14 saves.
- Assumption outshot Post 47-42, while also winning 10-of-32 faceoffs.
- Patrik McGrath led all scorers with 10 points, as he logged four goals and six assists. Ben McHugh added four goals and two helpers.
- Connor Stack won 15-of-21 faceoffs, while also picking up 12 ground balls.
- Declan Turner and Tim Bengston each chipped in three caused turnovers.
- Assumption now leads the all-time series 8-0
