NEW HAVEN, Conn.—The Assumption University women's basketball team saw their season come to a close in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, as the Greyhounds fell to Holy Family University 58-38, at James Moore Field House on the campus of Southern Connecticut State University, Friday evening.
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Holy Family started fast, as they hit their first two shots from long range, while Assumption was 1-for-6 from the field, with the only points coming from a three-pointer by
Teagan Curran before the under-five media timeout. Coming out of the timeout,
Emily Collins got in on the action, as she scored five quick points to get the Blue and White within two (10-8). The Tigers would end the first quarter by snapping a 1-for-12 shooting stretch, as Amy Ngo ended the frame with a driving layup as time expired, giving Holy Family a 12-8 edge after ten minutes.
The Tigers carried the momentum that they generated at the end of the first quarter into the second, as they opened the frame on an 11-3 run to go up 23-11, forcing a timeout by Assumption at 7:24. Out of the timeout, the Greyhounds went on a 7-0 run to draw within five (23-18). After the quick burst by the Hounds, Holy Family responded with a 10-2 run to extend their lead to 33-20 at the intermission.
In the second half, the Tigers began the frame on a 5-0 run over the first four minutes of the quarter. The Blue and White would draw their first foul of the game, as
Laura Johnson-Shedd got hit going up for a layup. Assumption would close out their third quarter on an 8-6 run to send the game to the fourth quarter with Holy Family leading 44-28.In the fourth quarter, the two teams traded buckets, but Assumption could not get a run started and fell 58-38.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Emily Collins paced Assumption offensively, as she scored 11 points, while Teagan Curran filled the stat sheet with seven points and seven rebounds.
- This year's season class went a combined 91-36, with the program recording four-straight NCAA appearances.
- Holy Family outrebounded Assumption 43-40, while also winning the battle in the paint (36-14).
- Assumption had 16 turnovers, compared to ten for Holy Family, but the Tigers converted the turnovers into 15 points, while the Hounds did not score off a turnover.
- Holy Family shot 37.9 percent from the field, while Assumption shot 24.6 percent.
- The Tigers now lead the all-time series 5-1.
