Baseball drops two games at American International

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.—The Assumption University baseball team fell in both ends of their Northeast 10 Conference doubleheader against American International College, Sunday afternoon.

Game Two Score: American International College 12, Assumption University 3

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game One Score: American International College 2, Assumption University 0
Game one was a pitcher's duel, as neither team could generate any offense. James McDermott had the first hit of the contest for Assumption, as he hit a double to left center field, while Cole Constantine gave up the first hit to American International in the top of the sixth inning with an infield single. 
 
 
The Yellow Jackets used a sacrifice bunt to move the runner over to third before scoring a groundout one batter later. AIC would add an insurance run in the top of the seventh to go up 2-0 before holding on for a 2-0 win. 
 
Constantine went 6.2 innings for the Greyhounds, as he allowed just two hits and struck out six. 

Game Two Score: American International College 12, Assumption University 3
Game two started with neither team generating much offense until the top of the fifth inning, as American International College scored four runs on a grand slam by Yeudy Ramirez. The Yellow Jackets added a solo home run in the sixth and seventh, before tacking on two more runs in the seventh to go up 7-0. 
 
Assumption got their first runs of the day in the bottom of the seventh, as Tommy Ocasal doubled home, Christopher Manzo, and Chris Klein. Ramirez struck again with a three-run shot in the eighth, before Ocasal drew a bases-loaded walk to score Tony Salvatelli on the play. AIC launched their fifth home run of the day in the ninth, as Wesley Alfonzo hit a two-run shot to left center, making it 12-3.
