WORCESTER, Mass.— The Assumption University softball team ran their way to a doubleheader sweep of Post University in non-conference action, Tuesday afternoon at Normand R. Marois '57 Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game One Score: Assumption University 11, Post University – 6 Innings
Assumption jumped out to an early lead in game one, as
Maddy Bland hit her second inside-the-park home run in four days, as she drove in
Kaitlyn Cahill on the play. The Greyhounds would score two more runs in the first inning, as
Molly Green scored on a passed ball before
Jaiden Tonucci crossed the plate on a
Janelli Pratts' sacrifice fly to center.
The Hounds added to their lead in the second, as
Niamh Foley scored on an infield single by Cahill, before scoring on a wild pitch herself. Bland scored later in the frame on a flyout off the bat of
Emma Bloom. Post got on the board in the top of the third inning on a ground out, but that was answered by two runs from the hosts.
Naomi Cohen crossed the plate on a
Bianca Vincequere double down the left field line and scored on an
Ella McColgan groundout.
The Eagles scored a pair of runs in the fourth, as Alexandra Bisceglia drove in two with a single up the middle. After a scoreless fifth inning, Assumption ended the game in the bottom of the sixth inning, as
Siena Nardelli scored on a
Nevaeh Fatorma fielder's choice and
Izzy Viglione tripled to left field, plating
Nadia Zach on the play.
Kaelin Waldron got the start, where she pitched 2.2 innings, allowing three hits and striking out five.
Kya Birtz picked up the win after pitching 3.1 innings and striking out four. The Greyhounds stole 11 bases in the win.
Game Two Score: Assumption University 8, Post University 0 – 5 Innings
The Greyhounds opened up game two by scoring one run in the first inning, as Green's triple to left drove in Bland. Following a scoreless second inning, the Blue and White plated two runs in the third. Bland tripled home Cahill, before scoring on an Emma Bloon bunt single.
Assumption capped off the game in the fourth, as they scored five runs in the fourth. Vincequere's bunt single plated
Kaylee Lacomb before Bland's single up the middle drove in
Bella Mara and Vincequere. Bloom doubled home Bland, while Tonucci's bunt single brought Bloom in, making it 8-0.
Paige Cote pitched a complete game win on 62 pitches, where she scattered four hits and struck out two. The Greyhounds stuck true to their name, as they stole 12 bases in game two, which tied Jessup for the most in Division II this season. The 25 stolen bases in the two games are the most by one team in a doubleheader this season in Division II.
