Softball splits their doubleheader in Florida

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.—The Assumption University softball team split their twinbill against Tiffin University and Rollins College, as they took down Tiffin 3-2 before falling 7-4 to Rollins, Saturday afternoon. 
 
THE BASICS
Game One Score: Assumption University 3, Tiffin University 2 – 8 Innings
Game Two Score: Rollins College 7, Assumption University 4
Records: Greyhounds (1-7, 0-0 NE10) | Dragons (7-7, 0-0 GMAC) | Tars (12-5, 3-3 SSC)
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game One Score: Assumption University 3, Tiffin University 2 – 8 Innings
Tiffin was the first team to score, as they plated one run in the top of the first inning. Assumption would have to wait until the bottom of the fifth, as Kaitlyn Cahill drove in Kaylee Lacomb with a single through the left side of the infield. 
 
The Dragons regained the lead in the top of the sixth, as Ella Esterby doubled home Tori Abel, making it 2-1. The Greyhounds tied the contest with an Emma Bloom single up the middle, plating Siena Nardelli on the play. The game would head into the bottom of the eighth, where Jaiden Tonucci would end the game with a walk off single to right field, scoring Lacomb from second base. 
 
Kaelin Waldron got the start and went 5.0 innings, where she allowed just one run and struck out five. Paige Cote picked up the win, as she struck out one in 3.0 innings of action. 

Game Two Score: Rollins College 7, Assumption University 4
Rollins was the first team to strike, as they plated one run in the bottom of the first inning. The Greyhounds took the lead in the top of the third, as they plated four runs, as Maddy Bland drove in a pair, and Emma Manzo and Emma Bloom had an RBI apiece.
 
The Tars cut the deficit in half with one run in the fifth, before erupting for five runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 7-4 advantage. The Greyhounds would get a runner on in the top of the seventh, but they would fall 7-4.
